How long have you lived in Bridgeland-Riverside? What do you like about living here?
I moved to Bridgeland in June of 2020, nearly a year and a half ago! I love Bridgeland-Riverside
because of the people, great food, and parks. Everyone in the neighbourhood is friendly,
generous, and happy to live in such a wonderful place.
How did you get involved in volunteering in our community?
I love to organize events, so when I received an email from BRCA requesting help to plan the
first annual Field Day I signed up immediately. At our first meeting I was welcomed by both
new and experienced volunteers who wanted to collaborate and make the event as accessible and
inclusive as possible.
What kind of volunteer activities have you done?
Alongside the other wonderful BRCA volunteers I assisted in planning and executing Field Day,
as well as helping out with a pop-up concert! I am very much so looking forward to helping out
with other activities in the future.
What ideas do you have for volunteering in the future? What interests or excites you?
With BRCA, I would like to spend more time volunteering at community events and hopefully
fingers crossed help with the second annual Field Day! But anything that brings people
together (ideally with good food and music) is right up my alley.
Outside of BRCA, my dog and I applied to be on the Pet Access League Society (PALS) team,
which aims to enhance the lives of others through the known human-animal bond, with pet
visitation therapy. He’s a very good boy that brings a smile to everyone’s face, so why not share
his joy with others.
What would you tell others in the community about volunteering?
That every single person I have met through BRCA is truly a joy. People are friendly and the
events are really fun! We live in a beautiful and well cared for community by the work of some
truly exceptional folks! There are lots of people who tend and care for our community. So, to
them, thank you!
What do you like most about volunteering for the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association?
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the people! I’m truly astounded at how incredibly
friendly everyone in the neighbourhood is. The volunteers want the community to be a place we
are proud to call home.
What is a hidden gem in Bridgeland-Riverside that you have discovered?

Not so hidden, but Tom Campbell’s Hill (especially during a thunder storm or sunrise/sunset) is
always a spectacular view! But, as a self-appointed spokesperson, the Bridgeland Farmers
Market Box is one of the best collections of local goods in Calgary! Do yourself a favour and try
one!
